"Dive into another school year!!" Check out the school supply list and other information.

Enjoy the rest of your time off because it's time to get started!
What did you do this summer? I hope that you had a great one! WOW! It seems like only yesterday when we were in school. Now it’s time to get “back to the basics”. I am excited about our new principal Ms. Smith and another new school year! Please write me and tell me what you’ve done this summer. Did you spend your summer at the beach? Hang out at home? Visit grandma? Maybe a waterpark?

Some of you may know, I spent my summer @ TSU finishing up my degree in Administration and Supervision. Someone asked, “Are you going to be the principal now?” “NO!” I will stay in the classroom as a 4th grade teacher. I love teaching and I’m ready to get started!

Hopefully, you’re ready to gear up, buckle up and take the ride through another school year. I am currently working very hard in my classroom to get us prepared for another year. I am looking forward to getting the year off on the right track.Below, you will find the link to the school supply list.

My experience in Gatlinburg....

Hey kids! I hope your summer has been great thus far. It's been wonderful here!! I just wanted to share a little bit about my experience in Gatlinburg. Have you ever been to Gatlinburg before? It's a wonderful place to go to relax and experience the mountains and the nature. I was able to take some trips up the mountains on the trails (the picture is Laurel Falls Trail). You know what I saw along the way - a black bear and two cubs (see the picture above). Wow! I love nature! It's amazing what God has created! Oh, even though I'm somewhat afraid of heights I took the skylift up to the top of the mountain and the airtram through Gatlinburg. The views are breathtaking!! Also, if you haven't been to the aquarium at Gatlinburg - it's AMAZING! It's one of the best I've seen before. Well I'm outta here for now - I'll start summer classes tomorrow - uggggggh! Anyway, tell me about your summer so far!!!!

P.S. If you haven't picked up a Parent magazine yet - you've got to! Caulyn is on the front cover! Congratulations Caulyn - you look great!!

Love yall!

TCAP is right around the corner!

Hello Parents and Students!

TCAP is right around the corner!! We are constantly preparing in the classroom by reviewing daily. However, you may also prepare at home too. How? Check out the link below. The TN Department of Education (K-12) offers links to test samples/practice tests, test taking strategies, and state performance indicators (the skills your child will be tested over). http://www.tennessee.gov/education/assessment/tsachrcspi.shtml (click on this link to go directly to the site) Also, I have sent home TCAP practice tests with your child for homework. I have given them the opportunity to complete practice tests online. In addition, I have given your child an opportunity to earn some "extra" credit. How? I sent note home on today regarding practice TCAP problems he/she should complete. He or she may use the Math textbook to complete the problems and return the completed assignment on Friday, April 17th. Finally, check out my portaportal.com for review games and other resources (www.portaportal.com guest login: jordan75). Continue to check your child's binder for the lastest information regarding TCAP. Students STUDY, WORK HARD, GIVE 100%, DO YOUR BEST, YOU CAN DO IT! MS. BELL

Black History Project

Parents and Students:
Now that you have the name of your famous African- American, it’s time to begin your research and get started on your cereal box! Remember that we are looking for you to be creative. Use your very best handwriting or type your information. Everything you put on your cereal box must be created by the student. You should not copy information from your sources; make sure you put it in your own words. Please do not use notebook paper on your cereal box. Creativity and neatness are especially important for this assignment. We expect to see evidence of hard work! These cereal boxes will be used as decorations for our program and will be an important part of your Social Studies grade for these nine weeks. Have fun learning about the contributions of these great Americans! If you have any questions, as always please email or call me. Projects are due on Feb. 27th.

You will see an example of the cereal box in the picture.

Black History Month

Hey kids,

As you are aware, it's Black History Month! We celebrate our heritage during the month of February and throughout the year. It is the time of year to honor African-Americans like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jackie Robinson, Sojourner Truth, Wilma Rudolph, Tiger Woods and many many others in our American history. Keep fulfilling your dreams, like many other African Americans in our history. Let the history of great people empower you to be the best that you can be!

Ms. Bell
